Nominator's project description
| Prof. Martin Gruebele is a full professor of chemistry, physics, biophysics and chemical biology at the University of Illinois. He has made ground breaking contributions in the field of folding dynamics of proteins pioneering laser induced temperature jumps on the fsec time scale to initiate protein folding. He has chosen to come to Bochum in the group of Prof. Havenith where a new THz spectrometer for the observation of proteins in solutions has been set up. They want to investigate THz spectra of genetically engineered proteins to clarify the role of hydration for the protein folding dynamics. |
